What is your background? How did you get into Accountancy?
I’ve always been pretty good at maths and I really enjoyed it at school.
During a conversation with a friend who was studying AAT, they suggested that I consider pursuing a career in accountancy which influenced my decision to go down this path.
What does your job as Business Services Assistant involve?
My role as a Business Services Assistant involves handling various tasks such as bookkeeping, ensuring the punctual completion and submission of VAT returns, and preparing Management Accounts.
What does a typical working day look like for you?
I live in Wittering so I drive to work every morning.
I kick off my day in the office by tackling emails and jotting down top priorities, like getting those VAT returns or management accounts sorted.
By around half past 10, I always try to squeeze in a Belvita break!
The rest of my day? It’s usually a delightful mix of conquering VAT returns and diving into monthly bookkeeping tasks.
What sort of challenges do you face?
Occasionally it can be a challenge when clients play hide-and-seek with the paperwork we need :-), but other than that we have a great team in Business Services who all help each other to resolve any challenges or queries that may come up.
What do you enjoy most about working at Blue Spire?
What I love about working at Blue Spire is the friendly and helpful vibe.
We all get on well and it’s a really positive environment with something always going on that makes working here very enjoyable.
What Hobbies do you enjoy outside of work?
In my spare time, I like spending time with my friends, going to see live music or concerts, enjoying beach activities, and going on walks.
