What does your job as Audit and Accounts Senior involve?
My duties involve the preparation of annual accounts and undertaking of audits for a variety of clients including charities, pension schemes and companies. As part of my audit role, I often visit a variety of clients onsite which I enjoy. It’s great to see how different entities operate.
What does a typical working day look like for you?
Firstly, I go through my emails to answer any queries which may have come in overnight and set out my working tasks for the day. Then I get stuck into my assignments which could be anything from preparing a set of financial statements to carrying out a company, charity, or pension scheme audit.
Currently, with the working from home structure I like to break the day up with a lunchtime run but am hoping soon I will be able to get back to kickboxing in the evenings when restrictions have been lifted.
What challenges do you and your clients face?
A lot of the audits I undertake would normally be carried out onsite, however, with the current restrictions we have had to plan our audits for remote working and minimise our time on site. I have missed the face-to-face interaction with our clients.
What do you enjoy most about working at Blue Spire?
The team spirit is always great, from helping each other within the workplace to socialising at our team building days, we always have a laugh.
I also enjoy how varied my role is, no day is the same.
Lastly, are you binge watching or reading anything in lockdown you would recommend?
I’m not currently reading anything although I do love to get stuck into a great book.
I have recently watched a couple of series. One being ‘The Sopranos’ and the other being Frasier which I absolutely love. In the past I have watched the odd episode of Frasier on the TV but would definitely recommend watching the entire series.
Oh, and I recently watched ‘It’s a sin’ on All 4 which is brilliant!
