What does your job as Accounts Semi Senior involve?
My primary role as Accounts Semi Senior is to complete annual accounts on behalf of companies, but I also work with a few clients who require weekly support to do their bookkeeping, VAT returns & management accounts. I also assist the bookkeeping team as and when they require.
What does a typical working day as Accounts Semi Senior look like for you?
I start the day by catching up on emails then I will pick up the set of accounts I have been working on or any that have come in to do for that day. Usually I stop for coffee and some fruit at around 10am and make any calls that I have scheduled to clients or to HMRC, then I continue with accounts for the rest of the day.
At the moment I am balancing my time between the office and working from home.
What sort of challenges do you and your clients face?
The never ending pile of ‘missing information’ – chasing for missing receipts and invoices.
What do you enjoy most about working at Blue Spire?
I enjoy the environment the company has created, it’s a laid back vibe with a trusting nature that we will manage our own workloads. The team support each other and management are always happy to help with queries or training.
I feel valued at Blue Spire and I am looking forward to seeing everyone back in the office again.
Lastly, are you binge watching or reading anything in lockdown you would recommend?
‘Superstore’ is a great easy watch as they are short light hearted episodes.
‘How to get away with Murder’ has me addicted at the moment.
I also love a podcast called ‘Redhanded’ which I listen to when cooking dinner or doing house DIY – highly recommend for true crime fans like myself.
