For our next Client Feature, we spoke to Sophie Reed, founder and owner of South Coast Home Care, who are an award-winning independent care provider based in Chichester, providing high-quality care and companionship which ranges from hourly care to full-time, live-in care.
Sophie is extremely passionate about delivering high-quality care at exceptional standards, and is supported by an experienced team of compassionate carers.
Tell us a little bit about your business – when it started etc:
South Coast Home Care started in Jan 2019 with a borrowed desk and laptop after I left a salaried job as an area care manager.
I have always had such a huge passion for care and went into the industry at the age of 18.
It wasn’t until my later years that I thought of setting up my own company, and I must say was the best decision I had made! To be able to set your own values and Standards within the industry was the most exciting part.
South Coast Home Care now has a team of 35, including a lead care specialist and finance director, as well as a growing customer base in the local area covering from Chichester to Rustington.
What does a normal day consist of/look like for you?
At South Coast Home Care a normal day consists of making sure expectations are filled, with our senior management team ensuring customers care needs, rotas and the overall welfare of everyone.
No day is the same and we are at times faced with emergencies, however, we have a very skilled team of managers, who have detailed contingency plans ensuring no one is out at risk.
We are all one team and we always ensure we remain positive and upbeat within the office environment.
The carers out on the field provide all the care services to our clients and work extremely hard every day. The carers work an AM/PM shift or a split shift and this includes travelling from client to client, providing care in their own home .
What do you love about where you are based?
We love being based in Chichester purely because we are so familiar with the local area.
I was born here in St Richards hospital, and my grandparents live here, so I spent many of my younger years playing at Priory park near the city walls!
Chichester is a wonderful area full of great people and businesses who we regularly interact with. I find it’s also important, especially in care, when you are person-centered and local to the area where the customer lives.
I feel they find some trust and comfort from that and also with us being a small independent local business
Do you have any future goals for the business or things you are looking forward to?
We are looking forward to growing South Coast Home Care in the coming months to enable us to provide extra benefits for our staff and clients.
